That's All Folks or Is It?

Although the focus of this blog has been to discuss the evolution of technology and media. I’m pleased to have shared my evolution as a writer and blogger through this experience. As a former entertainment blogger, media personality, and graduate of one of the greatest communication departments in the world, my love for technology runs as deep as the Jordan River. At this point, we’ve come to an intersection in our conversation where we probably won’t meet as frequently and topics may stray away from technology and media but I think I’m here to stay.

My Fallout With Entertainment Blogging….
Blogging is a form of expression that I miss and from this experience I’m conflicted with rejoining the community or keeping my comments to myself. After graduating from Alabama State University where I received a Bachelor’s in Communication: Radio and Television. I started blogging for a radio personality for one of Atlanta’s Premier Hip Hop radio stations for about three years. During that time span, I simultaneously launched my podcast. So, I was a media personality for myself and a blogger for the entertainment blog. With these two platforms under my belt, I was exposed to so many opportunities, people, places, and extravagant events. From red carpet movie premieres to star studded album release parties, the entertainment world definitely showed me a good time. I documented my experiences on the blog and spoke about it freely on my podcast. Everything was all good until everything I loved started to feel like work. Throughout this blog we’ve discussed the power of people and consumers. Well, some of the people I encountered in the entertainment industry has a lot to do with my reasons for stepping away from the industry. Similar to technology the pool of bloggers in Atlanta is ever-changing. Just like in any situation or location, every now and then you may connect with an individual or organization that you may perceive to be like minded.  And every now and then you may encounter individuals that are just downright evil. After 3 years of enjoying amazing moments but encountering shady people, I walked away from the entertainment industry.

Current Position….
A new fire has ignited within me as we come to a close of our conversation about technology and media. The fire is for blogging and sharing my commentary in regards to matters that are important to me. After sitting back and reading this blog over and over again. I realized I walked away from a passion because I let the fire die and I let people push me out. Listening back to my reasons and excuses for stopping something that I love and not finding ways to make it better. Made me realize that I was just too immature to embrace the downside that every industry may possibly come with. Although the downsides may be completely different in other Industries, every career has it's ups and downs. With a more mature mind and understanding for blogging, let me formally introduce myself, I am Kenya McGill. Welcome to my blog!
